I think the show is SIGNIFICANTLY better. I read the first two books and I could not read anymore. But the show is a lot better for little things like Elana having a brother instead of a sister. Her sister in the book is a very unimportant, insignifcant, under developed character that really has no point. But Jermy, her brother, in the series is a very interesting character.
