Can you cut a diamond with a laser?

I was researching how to cut a diamond and I was surprised to see that a laser was not mentioned in any of the techniques. Would the laser pass through the diamond similar to glass or prism and be unable to cut the material? Or is this a viable strategy that the website I was looking at did not mention? Thanks
