Compensation for cancelled KLM flight? Empty Compensation for cancelled KLM flight?

Hi, my colleagues recently had a KLM flight cancelled returning from Kuala Lumpur and had to wait 15 hours for the next one. Can they claim any compensation? I have tried to find out this information from KLM direct but no one wants to tell me!
