How to learn laptop/PC repair?

I am in Australia. A company is offering to organize Dell laptop repair online trainig/certification for me. Has somebody done that? How long the course is? And is it quite useful? b)Is laptop and PC repair quite similar?Is it possible to learn laptop repair on your own, only through online videos etc?
