Can over-vaccination kill a dog?

I just saw a case on court TV, where a bulldog was sold to a new owner. The new owner, too impatient to wait for the previous owner to email proof that the dog had recently been vaccinated, had the dog vaccinated right away. The dog died at the new vet's the same day from anaphylactic shock.
