What is the meaning of "Bible Belt"?

I am new to USA. I know English well but many American expressions confuse me. So I assume terms like this are usually not what they may first seem. I already can guess that this is not about keeping up one's pants but is a region of USA or a cultural group in part of USA. Please explain in more detail. Thank you.
