Should i hire a public insurance adjuster?

This week i had a house fire and my house and all my belongings are a total loss. I had a neighbor recommend a public ins adjuster. Im wondering if this is something i should do? Have you had any personal experience using them. I dont want to scam the ins in any way but i know my home owners ins adjuster works for them and is doing things in the best interest of the insurance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
