What is the best cheapest home security system?

I'm not sure whether to go through a company or if I should just get a little in home system?

Probably the best and cheapest is a dog. You may also want to put in a couple of motion sensors to turn on the lights in the darkest areas, but most alarm systems just false alarm way too much and if you have kids, even teenagers, it will drive you crazy. Basically all a security system does is anounce to everyone that you have been broken into. Get a dog.
