Water Damage - USAA Renters Insurance Advice? Empty Water Damage - USAA Renters Insurance Advice?

came home this past Sunday from a weekend with family (they live two hours away) to an apartment that had water dripping from the ceiling of my 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. I have USAA Renters Insurance with a covered replacement value of up to $26,900 with a $250 deductible.

I am not an expert on property claims, since my background is liability claims.But I do know you have an obligation to mitigate your loss. And documentation is very important. Do you have a digital camera? Make sure you are getting lots of photos of anything that was water soaked.
