Is it better not have very expensive cars ?

Like luxury cars.
It has big opportunity cost. It has more chance to get stolen.
If some kids made a scratch, or got in to car accident it will cost a lot to repair.
It's better to have cheap car, but not too cheap, cars with fair machine.
Why would people buy sports cars, they won't use it for car race, speed more than 80, unless they are criminals. Why don't government just make a law that car companies can only sale cars that can't speed more than 75 mph ? Then there won't be illegal car race, or car chase.
