How is the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer career?

Is it promising, satisfying, and or demanding? Any AME's on Yahoo would like to share their opinions or advice? Also what kind of working in heights are involved? Are you safely on a platform? I'm not the greatest at heights but if I am safe and not a 100 feet high I will be fine. My main concern is also about how stable this industry is, and if its in demand. Also I am in Canada. Thank you.
