Is China our friend or enemy?

America buys a massive amount of goods (sometimes dangerous or tainted) from China to fill the Walmart shelves.

America and Europe builds up China and is bringing China up to superpower status.

Yet China happily sells warheads and weapon systems to Iran or whoever is willing to pay for this (often with American technology).

What is wrong with this picture? Are we so desperate to save a few pennies on our goods that we put up with this issue? Is the American government so desperate for big-business lobbying dollars that it overlooks this serious conflict? Do we really need "so-called" friends like China?
