Do I need a contractors license for water damage mitigation?

I need to know if I need a contractors license for water damage mitigation. I want to start my own water damage restoration business and need some information about licensing and permits.

If you are not performing any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work, it is not likely you will require a license. All you would be able to do is remove water, replace carpet, replace and repaint drywall/sheetrock, and similar.
