What is the best data recovery software?

My memory stick has corrupted (it says it needs to be formatted) and there is some data I want to get of it.

What is the best file recovery software both free and commercial?

(note: It corrupted just as I was about to back it up).

I have tried getdataback for FAT but it doesnt detect anything.
