What is a really good home security system?

Do you have to pay monthly for a home security system? What kinds are there?

I have a wired home security system with an alarm siren. I could attach an auto-dialing system to it as well to call my cell phone, and may do it someday.Those inexpesnive systems that are supposedly professionally installed and monitored are not that great. They usually only place one motion sensor in your home and then charge you a monthly fee to monitor it. I have every doorway protected with a sensor and 2 more motion sensors.
