Differences between computer mouses?

What do I need? My Dell desktop about 1 1/2 yrs old and the mouse shows red light at bottom. Is that a laser kind? It plugs into computer port. At Amazon.com Logitech has laser mouses ranging from $18 to over $50. What is the difference, what do I buy?

Given the fact that you have to ask, you likely won't notice a difference between the $18 and $50 mouse. Some difference will be the number of buttons (2, 3, 5, etc.), wireless/wired, optical/ball/track, and resolution. Logitech is a good brand (I just got a wireless keyboard and mouse and am loving them).
